AoPS Summer Camps: Preparing Students for a Rapidly Changing World
The educational landscape is shifting faster than ever before. Outcome-based metrics are losing efficacy as students' busy schedules encourage them to take the shortest distance between two points: AI → completed assignments. Students increasingly ask, "Why do I have to know this?" rather than embracing intellectual challenges.

It's time for something different.
What if you could find a summer program that:
- Couples a challenging curriculum with skills your child will need for years to come
- Creates an environment where engaging intellectual risks replace the test-focused mentality
- Builds a vibrant community experience where kids actually want to tackle the hard problems
After all, when most of us reflect on our own education, our most challenging experiences were often our favorites.
The AoPS Summer Advantage
AoPS Academy summer camps provide a unique opportunity to learn advanced concepts without the stress of grades or homework. Surrounded by likeminded peers and exemplary instructors, students can dive into challenging material that explores topics they usually wouldn't encounter until college!
Imagine your 6th grader being introduced to graph theory! Graph theory is a fundamental topic in discrete math, the math of modern computing, and integral to the world they’ll inherit.
Consider this fascinating problem:

In our Math Beasts Camp 6, students learn key concepts to prepare them for Prealgebra in the fall, but also explore graph theory to understand the long-term power of mathematics beyond the standard K-12 curriculum. Similarly advanced concepts are integrated with all of our rich mathematical offerings!
Beyond Numbers: Language Arts That Inspire
Our language arts programs are equally transformative. At AoPS, we help students build strong foundations in both math and language arts, both critical topics and by no means, mutually exclusive. In every language arts camp, students complete a full project during each session. They will receive in-class scaffolding and feedback to help craft a written assignment and presentation for the group. The texts used in the camps are award-winning, and students will develop the confidence to express themselves and their ideas in a meaningful way.
For instance, our Academic Essay Writing camp (grades 8-10) utilizes the college-level text They Say / I Say: The Moves that Matter to help students craft sophisticated academic essays. This book is a fantastic resource chock full of templates and verbiage to elevate the quality of their writing. In this camp, students are asked to distinguish between they say / I say when considering when to/not to use first-person pronouns:

In the exercise above, students learn to distinguish between different voices in academic writing and master when to use first-person pronouns—skills that will serve them throughout high school, college, and beyond.
Whether exploring advanced mathematical concepts, building communication abilities, or developing hands-on experiments (at physical campuses), AoPS summer programs introduce students to intellectual territories they might never encounter in standard classrooms. We also offer middle through high school contest training camps for students who want to train for MATHCOUNTS or AMC competitions!
These camp experiences often become pivotal moments in a student's development, sparking interests that evolve into passions and eventually careers.
